We assess against the curriculum... is there another lens to consider?

When it comes to standard 5 – “Assess, provide feedback and report on student learning” we tend to shy away.  In the last few episodes of The Reflective Teacher Podcast, we’ve been exploring what might be causing this strange phenomenon. 

Surely, Assessment should provide us with all the data and artefacts we need to show impact.  A good “before” and “after” snapshot of a student’s progress should be a big part of meeting this standard.  Yet, for some reason, we aren’t always confident in meeting the 5 focus areas of this standard.
