I did the Graduate Portfolio and it scared me... Do I have to do it all again at proficient?

I hear you! The Proficient Career stage process feels daunting.. right?

For some of us, the GTPA or Graduate Teacher Portfolio was one of the most stressful pieces of our teacher accreditation journey.

You spent weeks worrying and writing thousands of words about your practice. Using the standards as a focus to help you to demonstrate that you had what it takes to be a teacher.

It was exhausting and.. if you didn’t get the result you wanted, it didn’t do much to boost your confidence.

You’ve been out in the classroom for a few years now and you KNOW you should get proficiency (or full teacher registration) sorted.

You’ve had the letter, the email… maybe even the extension… but the thought of doing something like that Graduate thing… again….

It just doesn’t bear thinking about.  *shivers* right?

What are the important things you need to know about Proficiency and the Proficient Career Stage?

The proficient career stage of the Australian Professional Standards for teachers is your opportunity to celebrate the impact you are now having on your students.

Whether you’ve been teaching for 12 months or 10 years, if you’re making a difference to the lives of students and their families and you can connect your professional judgements to that success, then you are ready to apply for full teacher registration (SA) or proficiency.

The great news is, this process does NOT have to be anywhere near as onerous as the one you experienced at university

Phew! Right?

I’m going to share 5 key ideas that will help you to stay focused and get your evidence sorted for proficieny.

Tune in as we discuss:

  • What it’s like to be a relief teacher trying to get proficiency
