Teachers demand opportunity to help Adelaide kidsdoing it tough
Edtech startup donates brekkies to help homeless.
Adelaide, SA: Local edtech startup Edufolios.org has today announced a partnership with leading Adelaide not for profit, SYC Limited (SYC). In response to an overwhelming demand from their current membership, from today, educators looking to try the new online teacher portfolio system can opt to take part in a “Trial for Charity”.
Educators who donate $5 to SYC’s youth services division, HYPA (Helping Young People Achieve) will receive 30 days unlimited access to Edufolios.org’s online teacher portfolio system. The $5 donation will support the HYPA breakfast club; providing one meal for one person everyday for a whole week. The team at Edufolios.org first suggested the idea on a live feed over on their facebook page and were overwhelmed by the response of the Edufolios community.
Selena Woodward, CEO at Edufolios said. “We received over 300 views within 24 hours and suggestions for which charities they’d like to work with came flooding in. We couldn’t ignore that kind of passion. We too are passionate about supporting communities and giving back. After meeting with the team at HYPA we knew they’d be a great fit!”
Thanks to this growing community of educators, teachers will now have the chance to help the 3,000 young people who find themselves homeless every year on Adelaide’s streets. Lauren Dimas, Head of Partnerships at HYPA says SYC is thrilled to be a beneficiary of this innovative fundraising opportunity. “Working with young people to help them gain independence and stand on their own #TwoFeet, is at the core of everything we do. We are very pleased to be partnering with an organisation providing innovative solutions to professional support and development in the education sector”.
