Comment Moderation - Edufolios

Comment moderation is essential to any professional blog.  It protects your site from those who might like to place unethical and potentially dangerous content onto your posts.  As a result, all Edufolios have comment moderation set to on. Managing your site’s moderation and safety settings is a great way to demonstrate your understanding of local online safety requirements (Standards 4.5). The discussion settings in your online teacher portfolio will give you more options about whether you receive an email notification when someone comments, what key words and website automatically trigger a comment to be spam and when a comment can be automatically approved.

Closing Comments Altogether

  1. Head to “settings/ discussion”
  2. Locate the “Default article settings” section of the page
  3. In the third item, un-tick “Allow people to post comments on new articles”
  4. Scroll to the bottom and click “save changes”

Closing Comments after so many days

We recommend that you close comments at least 60 days after you post. However, you can change this:

  1. Head to “Other comment settings”
  2. Locate the “Default article settings” section of the page
  3. In the third item, change the value in the box next to “Automatically close comments on articles older than X days”
  4. Scroll to the bottom and click “save changes”

Email Notifications

If you would like to stop receiving email notifications when somebody comments on your posts you can toggle this option off and on.

  1. Head to “settings/ discussion”
  2. Locate the “Email me whenever” section of the page (it’s the third one down)
  3. Un-tick the box next to “Anyone posts a comment “
  4. Scroll to the bottom and click “save changes”
