Edufolios to Close its Virtual Doors

Dear Edufolios Community,

This message isn’t an easy one to write.

I’m sat at my desk surrounded by artefacts that show the amazing things that the Edufolios community have achieved in the last seven years.  A community that you are a part of. A beautiful community that I am super proud of.

My walls are covered in little post it notes with the names of educators we have celebrated as they have passed stages of accreditation or made massive breakthroughs in their teaching practice. One’s that lead to a deeper sense of fulfilment and a clearer drive towards their purpose.

There are newspaper clippings telling the tales of the sometimes-terrifying journey this English teacher went on to learn how to create a business that would create and grow this tool for teachers in Australia.  All so that we could see accreditation differently.  Through a lens of celebration and growth and not hoop jumping, soul destroying paperwork.

Thousands of educators have walked through our virtual doors.  Thousands have completed one or more stages of the teacher accreditation process using our tools and we are super proud of you all.

But, something has shifted.

Call it covid, call it the economy, call it burnout or even mis-alignment.

Whatever its name, this shift has meant that I can no longer keep Edufolios running.

It is with a really heavy heart that I have to let you know that,

Edufolios.org will close its doors on April the 20th 2023.

This means that we are no longer taking any new members and that, sadly, we need to give you notice that it is time to take your beautiful stories of practice and evidence of impact from our servers.

On April the 20th 2023 the Edufolios website will become a temporary place holder for all of our content (including the Reflective Teacher Podcast) but  the Edufolios software will no longer be available.

Here’s what you need to know… As of April 20th…

  • All Edufolios subscriptions will be cancelled.
  • You will no longer be able to access your Edufolio.
  • No one else will be able to see your Edufolio website.
  • A backup of all the data on our servers will be taken.
  • The Edufolios servers that run our portfolio platform will be taken offline.

This news is heavy.  I know.  I feel it deeply too.

But, I also feel that this is the right thing to do and although there is never a good time to interrupt your amazing reflective process, this feels like the best time to do it.

I know that your stories of practice are very important to you. They are a record of your professional growth and development. They are also an amazing, celebratory record of the difference you make every single day.

I genuinely hope that you will take your reflections from Edufolios™ and continue your reflection and growth. To support you with that, you can download this PDF that will help you to remove all of your records and continue your journey.

Know that I have loved building this platform for (and with) you.  That the work we do as reflective practitioners is still incredibly close to my heart and that I hope you will continue to use the teaching standards to reflect and grow the huge difference you are making every single day.

All current members will receive a series of emails over the coming 14 days to keep you in the loop and to share more tips and ideas for how to take your reflections from our servers.

Remember, you can access this pdf document for detailed instructions on how to do just that.

Thank you again for being a part of the Edufolios family. Your support and dedication have meant the world to us, and we are grateful for the opportunity to have walked alongside you on your professional journey.

Sent with the Warmest of Wishes
